According to analysts, Polkadot will keep on rising slowly in 2022. By the end of 2022, DOT will reach a price of 62.28 €.

2017

The Polkadot project started in 2017 as an Initial Coin Offering (ICO). This is like crowdfunding for crypto projects, where you as an investor can be one of the first owners of a new cryptocurrency.

The Polkadot-ICO was a great success. Over 140 million € of DOT tokens were sold.

Due to financial setbacks, Polkadot didn't manage to launch the project in 2018. There were two more private investment rounds after that. One in 2019 and the other in 2020.

2020

The first supply of 10 million tokens didn't turn out to be a hard limit. Polkadot was redenominated in August, making the coins 100 times smaller. Instead of a limit of 10 million tokens, there is now a limit of 1 billion tokens.

On 15 September, DOT was about  4.50 €. The exchange rate routed back to 3.19 €. Until November, Polkadot fluctuated between 3 € and 4 €.

By the end of the year, Polkadot broke out. DOT ended the year with a value of nearly 6 €.
