What is Waves?
Waves is a multifunctional blockchain-platform that support multiple use-cases, including decentralised apps (DApps) and smart contracts.
Waves was launched following one of the first ICO's in January 2016. The goal was to improve the speed, utility, and usability of the blockchains. The platform has since gone through multiple changes and has added several spin-off functionalities to keep on innovating and developing this original idea.
The Waves token is used to reward miners.
From the start Waves was meant to be used by businesses who wanted to use the blockchain to improve proceses or create new services.
New and different products have since appeared. Gravity, a cross-chain- and oracle-network and Neutrino, a decentralised finance (DeFi) oriented platform. Waves DEX is a decentralised cryptocurrency exchange. And there are some other producs.
Waves announced a partnership with Ethereum in 2020. This would be done by converting the Waves token to the ERC-20 standard.
Everything Waves price
Now it's time to take a look at the Waves price:
- 2016: Waves was trading at €0,98 on June 3. This turned out to be slightly overvalued as the price dropped to €0,18 by the end of the year.
- 2017: The year of the bullrun, every coin showed great increase. Waves did not disappoint. The year started at €0,18, by June 10 the price had increased to €5,78! A big correction hit and afterwards the course rose slow and steady until Decmber. Then the coin tripled in value to a high of €14,67 on December 19.
- 2018: The year started around €11,00. The bullmarket has officially ended and Waves is slowly dropping further and further. A bad time for bagholders, the price drops to €0,83 by November. This was followed by a shock rise to €2,82 by the end of the year.
- 2019: This year turned out to be more of the same for Waves. Apart from the occasional highs, these was little to be excited about. 2019 closed on €0,86.
- 2020: the great thing about cryptocurrency is that everything moves in waves, as does the price of Waves. The past years weren't anything great but 2020 turned out great. Up until the coronacrisis in March the price had increased to €1,11. This was followed by a drop to €0,75, quite a drop, but the same as bitcoin, gold, stocks, and basically everything else. On August 17 the coin was almost at €4,00. Summer 2020 turned out to be a mini altseason, altcoins saw many sunny days and their prices skyrocketed.
- 2021: The previous years proved to be small small ripples, the real tsunami would hit this year. The first months of 2021 saw the astronomical rise of many altcoins, Waves rose to €35,27 on May 4. Still the all time high!
