ICON (ICX) is a cryptocurrency that can be used for real-time payments and as a protocol to link blockchains to other blockchains on the ICON Network.
As quoted from the whitepaper: "The ICON Project aims to build a decentralized network that allows independent blockchains with different governances to transact with one another without intermediaries." The goal is to build a network where companies from different sectors (I.E. healthcare, insurance, finance, education, commerce) can communicate and execute transaction on one single network.Dat klinkt heel ambitieus, maar gelukkig kan ICON het ook waarmaken. Verschillende sectoren in Zuid-Korea maken veelvuldig gebruik van ICON. En dat zorgt ervoor dat de munt ICX in trek is.
This all sounds very ambition, but ICON has proven it can back this ambition up. Many industries in South Korea use the ICON Network. This increases the demand for the ICX coin. To launch the project, an ICO was held. This ended in October 2017 en exchanges started offering the coin that same month.
- The starting price on the first day (October 28 2017) was €0,39. Talk about hype.
- The price had increased to €1,56 by November 6th. this was during the mega bullrun where everything crypto touched turned into gold.
- Within two weeks ICX dropped to €0,86. It looked like the end of the project for some and a lot of people sold.
- If you were one of the people that sold, you will have some regrets by now. On January 9 2018, the price skyrocketed to €11,03!
- The perfect selling moment it turned out to be. Since January 2018 the price was stuck in a channel between €0,20 and €0,35, with a breakout once every while.
- In January 2020 ICON finally managed to really breakthrough as it shot to €0,47.
- Shortly after the coronacrash came along and crashed the price down to €0,19.
- A famous investor once said: "Be fearful when other are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful." This definitely rang true for ICON, the coronacrash was a perfect time to but the dip. In March 2021, the price was already up to €2,66. Its highest price since May 2018.
