What is EURC?
EURC is a stablecoin pegged 1-to-1 to the euro. Its value is kept stable by euro reserves that Circle holds at regulated financial institutions in the European Union. EURC is used for transfers, payments, DeFi applications and as the euro alternative on crypto exchanges, in a market that runs largely on dollar stablecoins.

How does EURC work?
For every EURC issued, Circle holds one euro in reserve. When a user wants to create EURC, they deposit euros with Circle, which then mints new EURC. On redemption, EURC is burned and the euros are paid back. Independent accountants publish monthly attestations on the composition of the reserves.

The technology behind EURC
EURC is available on several blockchains through separate smart contract implementations: ERC-20 on Ethereum, SPL on Solana, and native deployments on Avalanche, Base and Stellar among others. Circle developed the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP), which moves EURC between supported blockchains efficiently and without an external bridge. When sending, always make sure you select the right network.
The EURC ecosystem
EURC is the euro alternative in a market that runs largely on dollar stablecoins. You will find the token as a trading pair on exchanges, as collateral or in liquidity pools within DeFi, and at payment services that send euros over the blockchain. Because Circle issues EURC under MiCA, it is one of the few euro stablecoins that remains tradable in the EU.
Who is the issuer of EURC?
EURC comes from Circle, the American fintech company founded in 2013 by Jeremy Allaire and Sean Neville and also known for the dollar stablecoin USDC. In Europe, issuance runs through Circle Mint Europe SAS, an electronic money institution licensed by the French regulator ACPR. That places EURC under the e-money token regime of MiCA.
